WHAT I DO

I assist companies with legal issues in the areas of privacy, healthcare, technology and IT. I supervise (consulting) projects, draft contracts, conduct contract negotiations, advise on disputes and represent clients in legal proceedings.

I have a particular enthusiasm for and interest in healthcare innovations and the digitalisation of healthcare. For about 15 years, I have focused on the intersection of technology, privacy and healthcare. This is where my legal background and healthcare knowledge come together nicely.

WHY WORK WITH ME

I combine my specialist knowledge and expertise with a pragmatic approach. Always focused on practical and usable solutions. I am inspired, feel very involved in my clients’ practice and business and think (pro)actively with them. Clients appreciate sparring with me, not only on legal issues but also on business operations and strategy.

Because of my background as a mediator, I try to resolve disputes out of court in the first instance. If that is not possible, I diligently represent my clients in court or before the regulatory authorities, including the Personal Data Authority.

MY CLIENTS

My client base consists mainly of national and international companies in the technology sector and various organisations in the healthcare sector. I have built up a long-standing relationship with many of them. They often see me as part of their own organisation. I am also regularly engaged by other law firms in need of my specific legal expertise on privacy, IT and the healthcare sector

MY EXPERTISE

I studied Health Sciences and Law in Maastricht. I then started working as legal counsel at KPN. A switch to the boutique law firm Solv in Amsterdam followed in 2002. In 2007, I became an entrepreneur myself and started the law firm Scope Advocaten. This firm specialised in technology, IT and privacy law and other areas of law. At the end of 2019, the law firm merged with Parker Advocaten.

In addition to ongoing education in the fields of privacy, IT and commercial contracts, I completed the postgraduate course in IT law at the Grotius Academy of the University of Nijmegen. I also completed the MfN mediation course and act as a mediator.

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

Member of several professional associations, including the Information Lawyers Association, the Dutch Association for Information Technology and Law, Privacy Lawyers Association, Privacy Law Association and the Association for AI Lawyers.

SPEAKER AND TRAINER

In the Professional Legal Training Programme of the Dutch Bar Association, I teach trainee lawyers as a lawyer trainer. I also regularly conduct workshops and lectures for clients or training organisations.
